Wes Studi

December 17, 2006

The man, the myth, the Sphinx.

There were a couple of worthy nominees today, but Wes Studi takes the cake. I continue to use an online alias that is, not too cleverly I might add, derived from Wes Studi’s name. I actually first started using Westudi for a D&D character, and then for online gaming, etc.

Studi has been in tons of stuff. Some projects include: Dances with Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans, an episode of Highlander, Geronimo: An American Legend, Mystery Men, Into the West, and The New World. Studi keeps busy, but sometimes ends up in pieces of crap like The New World. He was deceived into thinking the movie would be historically accurate in language at least. Malick is a bitch. At least in The Last of the Mohicans, he had a kickass part. Magua is the crap.

I’ve read that Studi wants to actually be the creative force behind future projects dealing with Native Americans. I’m all for it, because most films with similar subject matter fall well short of expectations. Besides, who better to be the mastermind behind a Native American film than a Native American?

Studi is 59.

Other birthdays: Eugene Levy, Giovanni Ribisi, Milla Jovovich, Bill Pullman, Bernard Hill, and Chris Matthews.
