Alec Baldwin

April 3, 2007

You're worthless, Alec Baldwin.

Alec Baldwin is the best actor to ever live, and head of the Film Actors Guild, or as we know and love them, FAG. I actually like Baldwin despite the fact that he is a pretentious, liberal, wind-bag. All things considered, he seems like a decent guy, and I hope the recent story about him helping a soldier go to school wasn’t just for publicity. It didn’t seem like he was pushing the story though, so I have high hopes it was just a nice act on his part.

Baldwin is easily one of the best hosts Saturday Night Live has ever had, and I believe he has hosted it more times than anyone save Steve Martin. He narrated one of my favorite films, The Royal Tenenbaums, and also narrated Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. He lead an impressive voice cast for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, unfortunately the story fell well short of the cast and animation. He played nasty big-businessmen in The Aviator and Fun with Dick and Jane. No doubt an indication of his feelings in real life. Baldwin was also in Beetle Juice, which I personally dislike a great deal, and The Hunt for Red October which has one of the best soundtracks of all time along with a solid cast. Most recently, he played a police captain in the Oscar-winning The Departed, and stars in a the TV show, 30 Rock. I’ve only seen an episode or two of it, but it was pretty funny.

Baldwin is 49.

Other birthdays: Jerry Messing, Amanda Bynes, Jennie Garth, Picabo Street, Eddie Murphy, David Hyde-Pierce, Tony Orlando, Wayne Newton, Jane Goodall, and Doris Day.
