Wes Anderson

May 1, 2007

Not sure how old this is.

Even if there had been many choices today, Wes Anderson would still have been the one. Anderson is on my short list of favorite filmmakers. I love all four of the movies he’s done so far: Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I would be lying if I said that not having Owen Wilson help write the script is a good thing. You can see a marked difference in Life Aquatic, but if it means that Wilson is free to do more acting then I suppose it’s got to be that way.

I think the next time I format my computer I will use The Royal Tenenbaums as the new theme.

I’m anxious with anticipation for his next film, The Darjeeling Limited, which has a typically solid cast. I hope Natalie Portman fits in well with the established dynamic of Anderson films. Anderson also has an animated movie, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, in the works.

Anderson is 38.

Other birthdays: Tim McGraw.
