George Lucas

May 14, 2007

Thought this one was funny.

George Lucas is lord of one of the largest kingdoms of geeks. I still think he erred in writing and directing the second trilogy. He should have been executive producer, and oversaw someone else writing and directing the film. Other than the those two weaknesses, the only major differences of the first trilogy and the second is Han Solo and Darth Vader. Can’t do much to replace either.  I also thought that General Grievous’ voice sucked.

I am really looking forward to the new Indiana Jones film especially with Shia LaBeouf attached. I can’t say I am as enthused about Cate Blanchett‘s part in the film, but she’s an excellent actress and she can’t be any worse than Karen Allen was in the first film.

Lucas also has two Star Wars projects in the works, and both are for TV with some speculation they might end up on cable. One is a cartoon that will delve into the fullness of the Clone Wars, and the other is a live-action show that will take place between the trilogies.

Lucas is 63.

Other birthdays: Cate Blanchett, Sofia Coppola, Miranda Cosgrove, David Byrne, Robert Zemeckis, and Tim Roth.

So when is the Indiana Jones 4 slated to come out? Should be a great flick!

Well, according to IMDB, shooting starts in June of 2007. If we’re lucky, they might be able to get in a summer 2008 release. I couldn’t imagine a terribly vast amount of CG for it, but who knows.
